The Kirk of Dunedin Community Church in Dunedin, Florida houses one of the greatest orchestral pipe organs in the world. Designed and assembled by Terry Charles, Curator of the Organ, the organ comprises windchests and pipes from various historic instruments. It is unique in source, installation and variety of voices. One third of the organ is theatrical, two thirds are romantic classical. The world famous pipe organ enjoys the appropriate title, “The Grand Duchess”.

The Sanctuary of the Kirk was designed architecturally and acoustically with music from a grand organ in mind. Likewise, the pipe chambers which house the multitude of pipes are of special design and construction to allow the organ’s voices to “bloom” into magnificent music.

The ivory and gold leaf four manual console was designed and built by Mr. Charles. The organ was greatly increased in versatility and capacity in 1997, the “horseshoe” features an array of 307 stop tabs which virtually surround the organist. The console, a creation in itself, is one of the largest in the world - controlling one hundred ranks, genuine orchestral percussion instruments and TWO concert grand pianos!
