The Last Guest Is Gone
If CLAUDIA HIRSCHFELD is asked to name two musicians which have fascinated her from her childhood and influenced her immensely in her musical development these are without any doubt JAMES LAST and UDO JÜRGENS.
Both artists have written music history. In 1966 Udo Jürgens was the first Austrian to win the Eurovision Song Contest and having sold more than 100 million records he is the most successful entertainment musician in the German speaking countries. James last reached in his career 17 Platinum, 208 Gold and 11 Silver records. No less than 110 of his recordings reached the German album charts – which remains to this day as an unbroken record.
Claudia had the chance to meet both artists personally, and with James Last she combined a short but heartfelt friendship, to the extent that he wrote the official greeting words to her book “Alle Tasten im Schrank” which was released in 2014. Claudia was deeply shocked when her two idols passed away shortly after each other (Udo Jürgens on December 21st 2014 and James Last on June 9th 2015) but their music, compositions and arrangements will never die. To this end she has now put together a few of her personal favourites recorded by Udo Jürgens and James Last: tunes that pay tribute and unite her musical heroes on one album. These songs are on this, the first recording ever performed by her on the new WERSI Pergamon organ.
